DP World Tour Will Refuse LIV Golf Players in 2027 Season

On Monday 12 October 2026, the European tour told LIV golfers it will not take anyone who signs up for LIV next year. About 15 players now have to pick a seat, and the clocks are running at both tables.

On Monday 12 October 2026, the DP World Tour shut a door that some LIV golfers had hoped to keep ajar. According to BBC Sport, the European circuit will not accept as a member any player who signs up to LIV Golf for next season. Its chief executive, Guy Kinnings, put it in five words: “Players need to make a choice.”

It is a sharp turn from this year's mood. In February the tour granted eight LIV players conditional releases, and Jon Rahm joined that list in May, so they could play both circuits in 2026 without being punished for it. The tour said at the time that those deals covered 2026 only. Now players will be asked to disclose which tours they plan to play in 2027, and anyone who stays quiet about LIV and then plays it hands the tour grounds to end their membership. Honestlu, reports in August had already smelled this coming. What is new is that it is official.

Around 15. That is how many LIV players hold status with the tour, including Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton, Victor Perez and Tom McKibbin, according to the BBC. Others, such as Joaquin Niemann and Thomas Pieters, have none, and would need qualifying school or a special agreement that, the BBC was told, will only go to players who are not part of LIV in future. OOOOOFU.

Then comes the Ryder Cup. Players must be DP World Tour members to play for Europe, and the 2027 match is at Adare Manor in Ireland. On the other side of the table, LIV has been in Chapter 11 bankruptcy since September, with BC Partners Credit conditionally lining up up to $300 million, and its own deadline for players to commit to “LIV 2.0” has slid from 13 October to 25 October. Rahm's lawyer told the bankruptcy court on Wednesday 7 October that his client will not take part, and ESPN reports a separation deal is being targeted for 15 October. The BBC says deadlines for both tours land within the next five weeks.

$300 million of maybe-money on one side. A continental team shirt on the other. GLUWULU.

At blackjack, the dealer asks stick or twist once per hand. Here two dealers are asking the same roster at the same time, with calendars. A league with a players' stake but a shaky balance sheet, or a tour with a Ryder Cup ticket and a rulebook: which seat would youluwu take? The Spirit doesn't pick tours. He just watches who stands up first.

Two doors, two deadlines, and a Spirit who keeps a light on at both.

One seat only: LIV 2.0 equity or the Ryder Cup?

No right answer. Just your gut, and the Spirit watching.
