Grey County C$40M Lotto Max Ticket Validated Hours Before Expiry
Goodeveningu, Ontario. A C$40 million Lotto Max ticket from the 28 October 2025 draw was validated on Wednesday 28 October 2026, with only hours left before it turned into nothing.
A lottery ticket can nap for a full year and still make the last bus. On Wednesday 28 October 2026, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) said the C$40 million Lotto Max jackpot ticket from the Tuesday 28 October 2025 draw had been validated at an authorized retailer, just hours before it was due to expire at midnight.
Until then the story was heading the other way. On Tuesday, OLG spokesman Tony Bitonti said the ticket had not been checked, either in the OLG app or at a retailer, and he sat with a cheque already made out, waiting only for a name. OLG knew where and when the ticket was sold, just not by whom. Grey County is tourist and cottage country, so the holder could reallu be anyone, a visitor who tucked the slip away and forgot it. About 60 people had already claimed the prize, but their details had not added up.
Forty million dollars, a full year of silence, and a deadline counted in hours. Had midnight come first, it would have been the second largest unclaimed prize in Canadian history, behind a C$70 million Lotto Max ticket sold in Scarborough for a June 2022 draw. Instead the clock finallu lost. GLORU.
What happens next is still spinnnnning. The first reports do not name the holder, and OLG says every claim goes through a review of rightful ownership, so the name on that cheque remains a question.
