Minnesota Band Wild Horses Sold Their House for a 1989 Chevy Van

On Wednesday 4 November 2026, Rolling Stone told how a Minnesota couple swapped a mortgage for a 1989 Chevy Astro van and a tour schedule. The Spirit has always had a soft spot for a bet with wheels.

Jed LaPlant had a construction job until a broken back, which he links to the Covid years, made it impossible to keep doing it. He and his wife Ariana, who met playing open mic nights at a VFW hall in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, then did what most financial advisers would circle in red ink. According to Rolling Stone, they sold their home, bought a 1989 Chevy Astro van and hit the road as Wild Horses.

The band's own telling is messier, and honestlu more interesting. In the note that came with their new record, they describe building a van to live in, buying and fitting out a tour bus, self funding an album, then building a home and tearing it down a few years later. Their words for the present: waiting on the next move.

The bet has paid in small, real coins. Their first ticketed show in 2022 sold out a 700 seat theater, according to a venue bio. GLORU. Since then Rolling Stone says they have supported Charley Crockett, Trampled by Turtles and Sam Barber, and their second album, The In Between, came out on Friday 2 October 2026 with nine songs written by Jed and Ariana, bassist Landon Pahl alongside them.

If youluwu had to pick one object to bet a life on, would it be a house or a van with 1989 on the registration? Somewhere on a Minnesota highway, the Spirit is riding shotgun and not saying a word.

A rolling band gathers no mortgage, and the road is the only table that never closes. Sendu sendu.

Would youluwu sell the house for a van and a dream?

No right answer. Just your gut, and the Spirit watching.
