NBA Names Kalshi and Polymarket Preferred Prediction Market Partners

The league that waited longest has finally sat down. On Monday 26 October 2026 the NBA joined the NHL and MLB at the prediction market table, and left the NFL standing at the rail.

The NBA has stopped watching from the rail. On Monday 26 October 2026 the league named Kalshi and Polymarket its “Preferred Prediction Market Exchanges”, signed multiyear deals with both, and on the same day signed a memorandum of understanding with the CFTC, the federal regulator that oversees these markets. DraftKings, already an NBA betting partner, also had its deal widened to cover prediction markets, though without the “preferred” badge.

What does each side get? The two exchanges get the right to use NBA logos and marks, marketing rights in the United States, and official league data from Sportradar to run and settle their basketball markets. The league gets a leash: limits on which markets can be offered, a ban on league and team personnel trading NBA event contracts, and a duty to share information when trading looks suspicious. The financial terms were not disclosed, other than that the deals run for several years.

The NBA was not first through the door. It follows the NHL and MLB, and Front Office Sports reported in March that Polymarket's MLB deal was worth up to $300 million over four years, according to its sources. Nobody has put a number on the NBA's side. NBA executive Scott Kaufman-Ross told ESPN the league held back until it felt all the proper pieces were in place. KACHINGUUU, but quietlu.

The players are already split. Giannis Antetokounmpo has promoted Kalshi, and LeBron James recently signed with Polymarket, a deal Front Office Sports reported pays him $15 million a year. San Antonio's Victor Wembanyama has said he will never endorse such sites. One league, three stars, three different chairs. Which one would youluwu pull up?

The backdrop is a fight. The AP counts more than a dozen states in litigation over prediction markets, and earlier this month the NFL asked the Supreme Court to rule on how they should be regulated. That leaves the NFL as the biggest holdout among the major US leagues, and it is hard to miss that the NBA's new partners are the very platforms under legal fire. In this game the league has put its brand on the felt and the courts are still dealing.

Three leagues have taken a seat. One chair stays pushed back from the table, and the Spirit is counting who sits down next. Sendu sendu.
